Everquest
Sketches:

How It's Done

For awhile , I worked a job at a division of Sony called Verant. They make, among other online games, an amazing phenomena called Everquest, A 3D 'massively multiplayer' roleplaying game. Enthusiasts already know how cool this game is. This section shows sketches for 30th level player clothing sets (Leather, Chain Mail and Plate Armor), and the final in-game figures. This page shows a favorite of mine, since I designed the whole look (the bat-wings were already there), called an Abhorent (I just call her Vampire). These sections of art, made in Photoshop, are applied to a 3D figure to achieve the look you see in game.

Here we have the pattern for the wings.
And here is the pattern for the upper arms.
...and the hand
...the dress
...here is the pattern that makes up the chest...notice it's only half....it wraps around the body, joining at the front and the spine.
...and the face, which wraps around the head.
...and the hair...the multicolored bands are left over from seeing which direction the hair wraps.
You might not see that it is sometimes very hard to get these pictures to match up perfectly on the 3D figure...sometimes impossible, which leads to redesigning parts here and there. Wait 'til you see the new characters in the upcoming expansion, Shadows Of Luclin...they are so much better!
How she looks in-game.
