Ah, Jane. Sweet voice, alternating spacey and sentimental lyrics, experimental compositions alongside traditional songs.
I first heard Jane way back around '85 or so, when I was a DJ at a small station and someone played her "Waitress" song off her second release, "No Borders Here." Back then, she was a little more esconded in the new wave of the 80's. She progressed through incredible albums...and unfortunately, through labels that didn't know how to market this singular personality. She now has her own label, and has released 3 or 4 cds already, some part of a personal trilogy of sorts ("Child," "Teenager," etc). Her voice is sort of a combination of Rickie Lee Jones, Joni Mitchell and Laurie Anderson...the music, well...that can't be properly explained in mere words.
Her site is fun, just like she herself is...check it out now!
