As with Dada, Crowded House and many more stellar pop bands, the Posies just didn't seem to be able to crack through to the numbers their songcraft skills deserved.
Able to concoct shimmering pop harmonies and hooks seemingly at will, the Posies are a magical group, with a great new release out, Some Kind of Light. They are also now half of Big Star and have a new release out with that band as well.
Check out "Dear 23" (the first Posies release I heard, and still my favorite), or "Frosting on the Beater" for incredible songs.
Also check out an issue of The Big Takeover (issue 51) for a nice interview with Ken Stringfellow...I never knew he had so many bands and had played with so many other biggies (aside from REM and Big Star).
