Like Pink Floyd? Like Electronica? Well, here is the perfect marriage of those two things in the band called Porcupine Tree.
I first heard the cd "The Sky Moves Sideways" and loved the Floydish guitars, lengthy songs, and David Gilmour like vocals. They add modern beats and effects to achieve a trippy mix. In fact, their earlier releases, which I only found recently (maybe they were rereleased) focus on acid trip themes, complete with professor like voiceovers describing what is going to happen.
With a recent release, "Stupid Dream" they shortened their songs somewhat, but still had a great sound, lyrics that were a little less obscure, and some damn great songs.
Another, "Lightbulb Sun" continues in that vein, tho "The Sky..." and "Stupid Dream" are still my favorites. Still newer, "In Absentia" continues their slow movement into harder stuff (I like the earlier stuff better myself, but it is still good).
The official site is gorgeous, and the place where I go the photos to the right.
