Though many associate Thin LIzzy only with the hit, "The Boys are Back in Town," and subsequently dismiss them as one hit wonders or boring old rockers, they have actually inspired many musicians. Their virtually patented twin guitar attack (my favorite combo was Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham) was both powerful and melodic.

Early in thier careers, they were more of an Irish rock/blues band, covering standards such as "Whisky in the Jar," and creating song myths of thier own (I should say, bass player/leader/main songwriter/singer Phil Lynott's own).

I love everything they did, including Phil's solo work. I got to see them live once, but only a shortened set because THE GIRL I TOOK WAS LATE!!! Saw the last song only, in fact.

Phil's unfortunate demise from, of course, drugs, left us without a true rock rebel voice. I hear Scott Gorham has started touring with a new Thin Lizzy, sort of a tribute....but I couldn't see them...it would be a joke.
