Elektra (1)

At a San Diego Comicon years ago a nice guy by the name of Scott Sewell bought this piece. He later commissioned me to do a companion piece as well (and has since bought and commissioned other pieces). The character is the great comic villainess/heroine created by the comics god, Frank Miller (one of many I studied incessantly). This painting was done with watercolor, but also incorporating an additional ingredient called Gel Medium. After the drawing is done, you spread this elmers-glue like substance with a brush, it dries clear, and when you paint, you see your brushstrokes. It ends up looking sort of like an oil painting, a medium of which I have no working knowledge. Character copyright Marvel Comics (unfortunately).
